Voice Movement Therapy Workshops

All the workshops will introduce the basic principles of VMT: the technical vocal and non-vocal principles and the contact, psychological and artistic principles.

Workshops are open to people with no previous experience of therapeutic voicework or singing and to those who already use their voice professionally or artistically. Please dress comfortably; bring a cushion and lunch to share.

Embody Your Song

Weekend Workshop

12th and 13th of November 2011,
White House, Foulgers Opening, Norwich, NR1 3AH
Cost £100

The weekend will involve group exploration of voice, body and the self using specific vocal techniques, movement, imagery and improvisation. The vocal techniques focus on expansion of the vocal tube, grounding the voice in the body, and finding new vocal timbres.

We also ask participants to bring a song of their choice, which will be explored in a one-to-one session within the group using a process referred to as the three planes of expression. This process helps with embodying your song on all levels and with freeing your voice from inhibitions and tension, bringing you closer to the present moment and your authentic voice.

If you attended the previous Embody Your Song workshop, this is an opportunity to revisit some of the principles and to deepen your experience of the work.

Please bring comfortable clothing and lunch to share. No previous experience necessary. Booking is essential as places are limited.

Participants in our previous workshops wrote:

'The workshop introduced me to new vocal methods that I was able to teach to my singing students and choir. The result was very positive; the singing now sounds more relaxed and natural.'

Participants at the Voice Alive workshops in Prague wrote:

'Return to one's nature, openness… ease, creativity…. Search, experience, rediscovery and awareness of one's own voice and the unsuspected areas of the self.'

'In her workshop Sebastiana doesn't directly teach how to sing, however at the end each participant's voice sounds as never before. Sebastiana combines in herself softness and strength. She isn't judgmental and gives space to everything that emerges. And that is how the participants feel permission to experiment. I am glad that I was one of them.'

Ucastnice dilny v Prazske Drune napsala:
